 2016 Preview

Locust Fork completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Locust Fork just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 4A region seven with a 3-4 region record.

The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Locust Fork has gone a combined 23-38. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Locust Fork has managed to compile a record of 96-162. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 3A and 303rd in the AHSAA.

The Hornets are led by head coach Chris Musso who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-12 over the past three seasons at Locust Fork. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Musso.

Coach Musso's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 42-41 (50.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Musso's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

The Locust Fork Hornets will play in Class 3A region six during the 2016 season. The Hornets may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region six this year.

Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Hornets should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. Locust Fork missed the playoffs last year but have expectations of a return to the post season this year.

The Hornets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Carbon Hill on Friday, August 19 at G.W. Keith Stadium. Last year the Carbon Hill Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 4A region five. The Bulldogs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Lynn by a score of 41-22 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

Locust Fork and Carbon Hill have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 1-1-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in with
